I find myself writing my first birthday card to my daughter. It’s super hard because I don’t know how to sign it. Birth mother sounds so distant. When those even more difficult times. I want all of the birth mothers like me, one day hopefully everything will make sense. We are special people, and no matter how hard it is you are loved!

Hi, just wanted to write and say that for all mother’s considering adoption, having your baby says to him/her that you love them.

Dear Birth Mother,


I want you to know how brave and selfless you are. You made the very painful decision to place your child for adoption because your child’s well-being was more important to you than even your own. Never let anyone ever make you feel bad about yourself for the decision you made. You know in your heart that you did the right thing and your child will grow up with so much love and admiration for you. I was adopted and I think of my birth mother as my hero. She knew she couldn’t give me the life I deserved and I respect her so very much for her decision.

Never lose hope and always remember that in your heart you know you did what was right. No one else’s thoughts matter. Just your own.

I applaud your courage and love to nurture your child in the womb, when other options could seem so much easier.

I hope and prayer your experience is as wonderful as mine. We adopted all 4 of our children and I can’t imagine being any more fulfilled as a mother! I have a great open relationship with each of their birthmoms and they are like family to me. Your child is so blessed to have 2 moms to love him/her. God bless you and give you peace about your decision and may you always know you made the RIGHT choice!!!

I am in awe of how selfless birth mothers are. To put your child’s life before your own even when it hurts you takes a very strong and loving person. My family has been so blessed through adoption and I will always be grateful and never forget the sacrifices that were made to make my family whole. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear birth mom, you are a hero! You made the beat decision in a difficult situation. Not everyone can do that, but you did. MY family adopted a 3mos. old baby with special needs. He was such an inspiration to our family and taught us many valuable life lessons of things we so easily take for granted. I would personally like to thank his birth mother who made the sacrifice to give him up for adoption..Your sacrifice was a blessing for our family.

Dear Birth Mother,

I am writing this to you as an adopted child, who found out years ago that my birth mother had passed away before I could search for her. Growing up knowing I was adopted at 5mos old, I always dreamt of meeting my birth mother. It crushed me to know that I would never be able to thank her, or just see her face in person. My own blood. It’s been years now, and I have my own children. I could never imagine having to give my babies up… But I do know that I would do ANYTHING to keep them safe, and give them the best life possible. So if giving them away meant that… I’d do it. I am so grateful for people like you, and I am still considering adopting a child in the future. Thank you so much for your selflessness. I never got to thank my own birth mother, Lucille… But I feel like thanking you in a way transfers to her. You are appreciated and loved.

I want to tell you how incredibly brave and selfless you are. I was an unexpected pregnancy and my birth mother chose life for me and chose to place me with adoptive parents. Now,as a mother myself, I know without a doubt how much she loved me to make this incredibly difficult decision.
