"There was no “light-bulb” moment, no aligning of the stars. It’s complicated and it was hard for us and our families, but it was the right choice for Belle. I am 32 years old now and it still makes my heart race just think back about that time in my life." - Rick

At age 16, Rick and his girlfriend found themselves in an unplanned pregnancy and were faced with a tough decision. It wasn't until they learned about the idea of open adoption that they began to consider it. It's now been 17 years since they placed their daughter Belle for adoption. "It's not easy to place a child and to decide that you're going to let another man be the father figure in their life."
