Meredith was raising her young daughter when she found out she was pregnant again.  Sadly, her relationship with the birth father was ending right as she learned this news.  Due to the lack of financial and emotional support in her life at the time, she made the heartbreaking decision to place her second daughter for adoption. 

"I wanted more for her than I would have been able to give her."

No one knew about her pregnancy, which she internalized that as shame.  She also feared her daughters would never forgive her for separating them.  It took years for her to realize it's okay to tell her story.
