At BraveLove, we believe it’s vital that a birth mother not walk alone because the journey of adoption does not end at placement.
Here’s a list of birth parent post-adoption support groups, retreats, and online groups around the country that we recommend. These groups/events are not facilitated by BraveLove, but we’ve spoken with them, vetted them, and encourage you to see if they could be a good fit for you.
Every person is different, which is why we’ve created this varied list. We continue to expand this directory with more details and groups in order to provide lots of different avenues of support both online and offline. If you know of a birth parent support group or retreat, contact us. We’d love to learn more about them.

Birth Parent Healing Circles
Visit SiteThese sessions offer gentle reflection, supportive conversation, and practical tools that strengthen emotional wellness, communication, and confidence during difficult times. Each virtual session supports those who have experienced the trauma of involuntary family separation, offering a compassionate environment where participants feel seen, supported, and encouraged.
The 1-hour virtual Healing Circles for Birth Families is led by certified National Healing Circles Practitioner Ann K. Lister, M. Div. She has experience supporting individuals and families with a healing‑centered, culturally‑sensitive, trauma‑responsive approach.

Bellis
People who seek support at Bellis come to us with a wide array of experiences. At Bellis, we welcome everyone regardless of the circumstances surrounding their parenting status. We aim to improve the lives of people experiencing ambiguous loss and disenfranchised grief when their children are parented by others.
We meet on Zoom throughout the week and each group offers a slightly different kind of support. You are welcome to join any group throughout the week, as often or as little as feels comfortable. There is no expectation to attend every session. Simply come as you are, when you’re able. Visit our website to find the right group for you.

PSI Birth Mom Support Group
Postpartum Support International’s Birth Mom Support Group provides connection for birth moms/first moms who place a baby for adoption. This group is intended for women who are considering adoption, have placed a child or have had a child placed for adoption. Whether your child was born recently or years ago, you are welcome to join us for peer support.
We meet the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7 PM ET/ 4 PM PT

The Table
The Table is a social space for birth moms. Come join us for easy conversation, great vibes, and lots of laughter. The Table has always been about creating casual & approachable spaces that leave birth parents feeling seen, valued, and heard. We host bi-monthly virtual social hours posted to our Instagram.

Birth Parent Support Group UFA
Meets the first Thursday of each month, 7:00–8:30 pm, both in person at CSS and online. Facilitated by Maryanne Linford, LCSW, this group offers compassionate, peer support for birth parents at any stage after placement—whether recent or many years ago—addressing grief, loss, and healing.

Building Grace

Wisconsin Family Connections Center Virtual Support Group
Visit SiteAn online support group for birth parents who have placed a child for adoption. This group is open to all birth parents who have had a child placed for adoption, no matter what type of adoption, how long ago you placed, or which agency was involved. Come ask your questions and meet others who share a similar story.
This group meets on the second Tuesday of every odd month (January, March, May, etc) at 6:30pm CST.

Spence-Chapin Monthly Birth Parent Support Group
Spence-Chapin’s Birth Parent Support Group is a virtual meet-up for individuals who made an adoption plan (with Spence-Chapin or elsewhere) and are at any stage in their placement journey. This group is a safe place to get support and know that you are not alone. Topics will include coping with feelings of grief and loss, sharing challenges and successes with open and closed adoption, and improving communication with friends and family around your adoption plan.
Spence-Chapin’s Birth Parent Support Group meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 7pm EST.
There is no cost to attend. All attendees will receive a Zoom link to their confirmation email after registration.

Nightlight Birth Mom Zoom Group
Nightlight Christian Adoptions hosts a Birth Mom Zoom call the first Saturday of every month at 11 am EST. It is for mom’s who have placed through Nightlight.

Journey Together Virtual Birthparent Groups
You don’t have to navigate this alone. Our Connect Calls, Open Door Tuesdays, and Birthparent Book Club are free, safe spaces to find support, connection, and community. All virtual groups are open to anyone who has placed a child for adoption, no matter the circumstances of your placement, where you live, or how long ago you placed. For nearly 20 years, Shared Journeys (formerly On Your Feet Foundation) has offered birthparent retreats that are among the longest-running and most consistent in the country. Funding Love Birth Mom Vacation
We serve Birth Moms by sending them on all-expenses-paid Walt Disney World vacations that allow them to build community with other women who share in their experience of adoption. Our Birth Mom Vacations are a time for women who have placed a child with an adoptive family to allow themselves the permission to have fun, relax, and enjoy some Disney Magic with other Birth Moms–no strings attached.
Please note this is an application-only trip. Applications typically open in February of each year, and those chosen will be notified personally by Funding Love for travel arrangements and group information.

HOAA Retreats
Our Retreats are weekend events that provide a safe space for birth mothers to share their stories, explore the grief process, and build lasting bonds with other birth mothers. These retreats are not only an opportunity to gain valuable coping skills, but also a time to experience healing and a little pampering along the way.

HOAA Birth Parent Support
Visit SitePizza Meet Ups are casual, in-person support group meetings where birth parents —both mothers and fathers—can come together to connect with others who have placed a child for adoption. These meetings create a relaxed environment where participants can share their experiences, find mutual support, and enjoy free pizza. Supportive friends and family members are also welcome to attend.

A Women’s Pregnancy Center Birthmother Support Group – Tallahassee
A Women’s Pregnancy Center is pleased to offer a support group for birth moms at any stage in their placement journey. The support group meets once a month on varying dates and at varying times in accordance with what works well with birth moms’ schedules. Placement from the Heart Support Group – Port Orange
Visit SitePlacement from the Heart is a local birth parent support group providing peer support and mentoring to all birth parents. We have tailored-made events for any individual that has been touched by adoption placement. If you are looking for a group of women who understand how you are feeling, Placement from the Heart is for you.
Adoption-minded women, women who are in the middle of their adoption plan, and women that have placed their child are invited to come and share a relaxed afternoon of good food and conversation. “Nothing is off-limits,” you will hear us talk about everything from morning sickness to new hairstyles! You can be yourself, just sit back and listen or jump in and ask a question.

Catholic Diocese of Wichita’s Birth Mom Support Group – Wichita
The Catholic Diocese of Wichita offers a monthly support group that meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm. No cost to attend. It is open to the public but currently for birth mothers only.
Additional post-adoption support services include: private Facebook group for birth moms only, one-on-one counseling services, fall event with birth families and adoptive families, and an annual holiday party.

Adoption Option’s Birthparent Support Group – Overland Park
Visit SiteAdoption Option, Inc. has an active birth parent support group that meets on the last Tuesday of every month from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Kansas office. The group is open to all birth parents who’ve made adoption plans for their children as well as to those who are pregnant and are considering adoption or are in the process of making adoption plans for their babies.
It can be very helpful to talk to others who are or have been in similar situations.

Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach believes adoption is a lifelong journey. We are here to support you through the process of placement and after the adoption has been finalized. This group is for women who are considering adoption and women who have already placed their child into an adoptive family.

We have a quarterly, in-person support group for birth mothers who made a voluntary adoption placement through domestic infant adoption. This is an open group available to women who placed through any agency and are seeking post-adoption support. This group includes women of all ages and at various stages of their adoption journey. This group is based on a faith-based curriculum – SEEN: A Journey to birth mothers healing, connecting, and thriving. The group meets on Sunday afternoons in Lynchburg, Virginia.
