What do I look for when choosing parents?

This is Susan. She has worked in the adoption world as a social worker for years, and especially cherished her time working alongside expectant and birth parents. Here's a great question that she is often asked:

"What do I look for when choosing parents?"

I advise expectant mothers to think of what’s important to them. Is it a two-parent home? Is faith important to you? What about education? You can even think about if you want your child to have siblings, a couple that has a love for the outdoors, or parents who share the same culture or ethnicity. It really is up to you! You can specify these desires, and your caseworker will do his/her best to find a family that matches closely.
