Once the baby is born, how much time will I have with him/her?

This is Dr. Kacy Michel. She holds a PhD in Health Education and formerly served as the Director of Client Services at a women's center where she educated clients on their pregnancy options, including adoption. She's answering questions about the adoption process, like this one:

"Once the baby is born, how much time will I have with him or her?"

This varies from state to state and depends on when the relinquishment papers are signed. Your caseworker or attorney will guide you and help you to know what to expect. Some women chose to have the adoptive parents present at the hospital while giving birth, and other women chose to have a few days with the baby before signing the relinquishment paperwork.
