My family exists! My husband was adopted, and we recently adopted our daughter in July. My husband and I were high school sweethearts, we broke up when we went to college and both married other people. 10 years later, we were both going through divorces and found each other once again. He had a son from his previous marriage and I fell in love with my step son the moment I met him. I did not have any children of my own. We knew we wanted more children and so we set out to grow our family. Through 7 years of trying to have a baby, getting married and building our forever home….we knew we were being called to adopt. We were an approved waiting family for approximately 3.5 years. I was ready to give up. We were passed over as a chosen family time and time again. I remember crying to my husband that this wasn’t meant to happen for us and it was time to move on. Two weeks later, we got a phone call that our daughter was available for a private adoption and the birth mother wanted to meet us. We met with her and instantly clicked. We welcomed our daughter, Eleanor Pearl, July 29, 2016. We have an open adoption and a wonderful relationship with our birth mother. Thanks to this amazing woman, our hearts and our family, are complete.
